SKILLET TO BEGIN RECORDING NEW ALBUM JANUARY 12

NEWS SOURCE: Skillet, a Jesusfreakhideout.com report
December 19, 2008

Skillet Fans eagerly waiting a follow-up to Skillet's 2006 hit album Comatose won't have to wait much longer for new music from the rock band. Below is a studio update from front man and bassist John Cooper (highlighted in bold)...

"Hello everyone! Here in Wisconsin I could not even get out of my driveway this morning because of all the snow. The holiday season is here and my kids are freaking out! Trust me everyone, Christmas time is way better when you have kids. My son is getting old enough that I can get him Batman stuff without the guilt of knowing that I really bought it cause I think it's cool! Sad huh? I don't care ....Batman is awesome!!

Skillet finally has definite plans for recording! We start on January 12th with one of my favorite producers, Howard Benson. He produced P.O.D.'s "Satellite" album, as well as Flyleaf, Three Days Grace, My Chemical Romance, and Third Day. It's been a long writing process in which has resulted in 30 songs written. I am always inspired by fans who give us notes or a comment on myspace about how one of our songs changed their lives in some way! That has been a driving force behind Skillet all these years and continues to be as we have been writing the new record. Thank you to all of you have continued to support us and pray for us too!

Lastly, this has been a hard year for many people in our nation. Many are losing jobs, houses, and their faith as well. For most of us, we have never seen the economy so terrible. This is a scary time we are going through, but let's remember this holiday season that life is not about "stuff" - material things, ipods, cool clothes - not even Skillet Albums! :) It's a good chance for us to be giving hope to those who have lost it. Remind them that God is still in control! Besides, our hope is not found in wealth and prosperity. Our hope is found in a God that loves and forgives us. So during the "good" times and these difficult times alike, we can have that hope and help others. So everyone take a deep breath, and let's all remind ourselves what the season is all about! For all you people who are in school who are getting time off, cherish it! For all you people who are bummed that Skillet did not play near you this year, or you missed the show due to something of lesser importance :) , you can get our live dvd "Comatose Comes Alive!"If you have seen us, then you can get the dvd and give it to someone. It makes a flippin sweet gift! For all of you scrawny pale guys, just remember, chicks DIG the Skillet dvd for Christmas! ;)

Hope you all have a great holiday and start checking myspace for album info starting mid-January!

Stand and be strong,
John Cooper"
